When I first laid eyes on this beer, I had a bit of hesitation... as the only other French beer that I had sampled was Fischer d'Alsace... and that was a completely unremarkable beer in my opinion. However, for the $5.00 price, it was worth picking up for a quick try.
After prying the cork-cage off (they eschewed the typical champagne-style cage and instead used a metal staple that practically bisected the cork), I poured a sample into a tulip glass. The beer was a clear golden color and was excessively effervescent and supported a small white head. Bringing the class to my nose, I smelled a honey aroma similar to Boddington's Pub Ale (Strangeways Brewing, UK). If I simply put the beer down at that point, I would have had the best part of this brew.
The beer was extremely bubbly in my mouth... almost champagne
like. The beer was extremely dry and bitter... and what bit of
flavor was in the beer left my palate quickly. There was nothing
to savor and nothing to remember.
